Ancient Trattoria A LA VALANGHE at Nimis in Friuli

 

   
    Among the Trattorias of the Torre Valleys with homemade typical friulian cooking, simple but tasting and generous, ALLA VALANGHE (‘At the avalanche’) is one of the most known.
 It has a tradition deep-rooted in the stones and the history of the place, founded as Osteria 100 years ago by the local painter Titta Gori; reinforced by the solemn presence of the millennial Ss.Gervasio and Protasio church; livened up, without pause from almost twenty years, by the management of the lady Livia Cussigh and the daughter Sandra with her husband Marco, who takes care of the cuisine.
  Your choice of what to enjoy at the Valanghe's table is very easy both for the FRIULIAN TYPICAL DISHES refined thanks to a long experience, and for the GRILLED MEATS, from the beginning the House speciality: this menu is continuously enriched with the best products and recipes also from Europe (in addiction to the rigorous selection of the suppliers, we take particular care of the best meat maturing).

  Among the first course dishes stand out the potato Dumplings and the seasonal Pies (in winter also the Strigoli with chicory of Treviso).
 As second course dishes you can have the special Frico with potatoes, Wild boar salmi ( and other game according to the season), the Grill of mixed white and red meats , but also grilled T-bone steak, veal Chops, Beef and chicken thinly sliced raw meat, Beef chops and fillet with Patanegra lard and the new dish, in winter period, pork Neck at the spit.
  In summer also grilled Vegetables; buffalo Mozzarella; thinly sliced fresh Tuna with rocket salad, cherry tomatoes and taggiasca olives; and, on demand, beef Tartare.

Only the Sweets are without frontiers and full of fantasy: more than Tiramisù, there are Cooked Creams with various tastes, Pudding with gianduia and almonds, Icecream wafer with vanilla and warm bilberries, homemade Sheet of pastry with mascarpone cream and fruit in season. 

All the House Wines  are locally produced: Friulano, Cabernet, Refosco, Merlot and obviously , as dessert, Ramandolo. And what is more, a selection of fine regional wines.

Price of a medium meal (two courses), included a quarter of House wine: from 18 to 23 Euro.

 
  The Trattoria Alla Valanghe is very pleasant and functional: entrance-bar, a large room and two small internal rooms, one of them with a nice ‘fogolar’; a large court-yard with wisteria pergola outdoor (from April to October).

The Trattoria Alla Valanghe has also the knowledgement of ‘Historical Place’ of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

 The Trattoria is located at the eastern limit of the village of NIMIS (UD) in via San Gervasio 29,  on the road toward Cergneu and Attimis. Parking in the near square around the ancient church.
